Fitbie.com's spring 2013 web editorial intern. Conducted background research and interviews, wrote blog posts, profiles and slideshow content, pitched fresh health and fitness content ideas and built syndicated slideshows, articles and banners in the site's content management system, Drupal. Wrote and scheduled Tweets for Fitbie.com's official account. 

Freelanced for Waco Today, a city magazine, from 2011-2013. Wrote several pieces for the monthly publication, chiefly feature stories and local travel pieces. 

Fall 2012 reporter for the Baylor Lariat, Baylor University's award-winning student newspaper, where she covered politics and academics.

Freelanced for Osage County's weekly newspaper, the Osage County Herald-Chronicle. Contributed features and profiles to the paper's summer 2012 coverage. 

Worked with Caritas of Waco, a local non-profit agency, to improve social media efforts. Created a Storify for the organization and helped shoot and edit a video targeted at potential volunteers.

Interned at the Waco Tribune-Herald newspaper in 2011. Wrote more than 30 clips, including coverage of  local news, entertainment, food, business, sports, press releases, editorials and a guest column.

In 2010, contributed a feature story to Baylor's award-winning student magazine, Focus Magazine, which centers on nonprofit and volunteer efforts in the community.

Jessica Chia has a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Baylor University.
